Natural Sleep Remedies to Induce a Good Night’s Sleep

Although your sleep habits and the activities you engage in in the hours before bed can go a long way toward ensuring you enjoy a full and restful night’s sleep, sometimes people need help. Instead of reaching for either an over the counter or prescribed sleeping pill, many of which can have unpleasant side effects, why not look toward natural sleep remedies that can help to ensure a good night’s sleep?

One of the most popular and useful natural sleep remedies that people choose is melatonin.  While the body produces melatonin naturally, as we age, our bodies produce less melatonin so some people find it necessary to obtain a melatonin supplement to help them sleep.  Melatonin is preferred by many rather than actual sleep medications because while it helps you to feel drowsey naturally, you won’t have any of the side effects associated with some sleep remedies and you won’t wake with that “drugged” feeling that some sleep medications inevitably leave you with the following morning.

Some people drink herbal tea before going to bed.  A cup of Chamomile tea an hour or so before bed can help to relieve anxiety and can ready your mind and body for a restful night of sleep.  There are other herbs, too, that tout the promise of a good night’s sleep; just be sure to check with your doctor first to make sure you are using one that is safe.
